THE CAPITAL JOURNAL. SALEM. OREGON PAGE SEVEN WEDNESDAY. JANUARY 29, 1930 WIRELESS HAS BIG PART IN CHINESE WAR Pelplng, (U China's military men have taken to wireless with great enthusiasm. Radio has been used by a hundred generals to dir ect the movements of their troups in the recent large scale civil war. The atmosphere over China has been filled with so many wireless messages from one general to his subordinates and another to his men in the field that the "radio fan" has had an unhappy time try inn to pick up far eastern stations. Probably the most devoted wire less supporter in China has been the former "Christian general." Marshal Feng Yu-siang. Several hundred miles from his nearest troops. Marshall Peng remained quietly at a little mountain resort 80 miles from Taiyuan-fu, the cap ital of Shansl province, in the far Northwest, but kept in constant touch with all his generals during the revolt against Chiang Kai-shek, through his two wireless stations. Marshall Peng took pleasure in describing his wireless stations to foreign correspondents who visited him in Ills mountain retreat. He declared that by the use of radio he received hourly reports of the movements of his troops from dis tant provinces, and sent instructions to his generals mora quickly than he could have done If he had re mained close behind the front lines a few years ago. The Shansl wireless broadcasting station has been useful also in sending out "official communiques' from the Feng Yu-hslang head oiiarters. Not long ago. it was dif- ficult U not impossible to discover the actual progress of civil warfare in China. The existing government ruthlessly suppressed "rebel reports" and Issued communiques of their own which were not distinguished by impartiality. QUESTION GF (Continued from Page 6) li?r way toward the cabin. She nev?r knew how she reached it but once within the door. Delphlne hurried to her aid. Somehow Del phino managed to apply a fresh bandage and dress Anne in a night gown as she lay on the couch in the living room. Then with a word to Anne, the French maid went off for a doctor with only a vague idea of how to find one. For a while, Anne lay in a half stupor but Glenn's angry warning he did not want her to be there when he returned pressed upon her mind. Finally she went Into her bedroom. In a closet she sought a dark dress but paused as she heard a footstep. She hurriedly threw a neoliepe over her Kown. The bedroom door opened and' a man Dushed through to lace crouching girl, white and stunned. "Leon." she whispered incredu lously. "Leon !" 'To be Continued) lUuul IHslrkt No. It Amort. K.
