political collusion.
"I note your demand," the letter
said, "that the organization shall
dictate appointments In Florida Ir
respective of merit or my responsi

opponents of the administration to
attack me. The success of the repub

The chief executive wrote that
Hughes was especially competent in
the enforcement of the prohibition
law and that all of the federal Judg

ability and experience.
Britten replied to the president
assuring nlm of the cooperation of
the party organization.

Mr. Hoover showed Interest in a
nearby saw mill where an old time

cordwood lengths for the locomotive.
Turning back to the station, Mr.
and Mrs. Hoover received the dis

Then there was an Inspection of
the red brick station, brought Intact

As the party started for the Ford

Oakwood boulevard. Men, women
and children were heedless of the
elements as they strained to get
a view of the president and Mrs.
Hoover, nor was the rain suffi

All along the line, tne cmei
executive received an ovation, with
the crowds cheering and automo

the din. At some places cadets of
Detroit high schools with their col
