nicipal water supply from Marlon
lake or the Santiam, would be in a
position to get it at less cost and
at a much nearer point to Salem if
it would allow the power company
to eo ahead with its development.
Should this be done he contends
the city could tap the water source
at Detroit, a distance of about 40
miles from Salem, instead of going
about 70 miles to Marlon lake to
get the water.

down and by 3:55 p.m. a salvage
air hose had been hooked up ready
to blow out any compartment in
rludlng the main ballast tank. The
diver returned to the surface at
4:41 and eight minutes later the
Mallard started to blow the water
out of the S-ll. Tho submarine
broke water at 5:05 p.m.
The rrcw of the S-ll stayed In
the compartments not supposed to
be flooded during tho entire test
and did not experience any discom
fort. They received food by means

Mrs. Pogarty charged Tunney

after she was divorced from John
S. Fogarty, FoFrt Worth business
man, that ihe accepted and that
later Tunney married a "certain
other person." The deputy sheriff
was instructed to attach all of the
defendant's property in Stamford
at least 12 days before the first
Tuesday of June, when Fairfield
county superior court will convene.
The papers were brought here
from New Haven by Deputy Sheriff
John J. Maley and Attorney John
R. Thim, the latter representing
Colonel Lewis L. Field of New Hav
en, Mrs. Fogarty's lawyer.
Tunney and his bride are now in
Italy, where Mrs. Tunney is recov
ering from the effects of an opera
tion.
Mrs. Fogarty formerly lived in
Fort Worth Tex., where she secured
a divorce. She met Tunney at Hot
Springs, Ark., in the early part of
1925. She obtained her divorce
from John Fogarty May 29 of that
year. She has a daughter aged
about ten years.
