Sept. 31 Miss Elvira scholl who graduated from the Hubbard lush school with the class of 1928, Is planning to leave Man- asy to enter the 47apltal Business college at Salem. Miss Scholl, who plays first clarinet in the band, has been with that organization since 11 was first organized and the members have given her leave of absence so that she still retains her membership In the band. . A large attend ance were present at both the morn' ing and evening service of the Meth odist church, last Sunday to hear the report of Rev. Lotus c. Kiroy on tne church activities of the 1SJT 192S church year. One of the most Interesting state ments contained in the report of Reverend Kirby ls the fact that the Methodist church of Daluu Is out of debt, all bills and expenses hav ing been met, to, spite of the recent published survey of churches which would indicate tne financial affairs of churches to be in a deplorable condition. During the year 40 new members were added to the church roll, bringing the present membership up to aio, wnue tne increase in sun- day school enrollment was 10 per cent, giving a registration of 42. A total of 13200 was raised locally in the past 13 months for carrying on the church activities. Some of the contributions have been to mis skraary funds, (300 being paid to home and foreign missions In addi tion to that given by the Woman's Missionary society.' Members of the Sunday school donated tlM toward foreign missionary work. A sum of $360 was contributed to the cause of supporting old, retired ministers. Reverend Klrby left : Thursday morning to attend the annual con ference of the Methodist church, which Is being held in Hood River. Members of the Methodist church congregation and mends, have neti tloned the bishop for the return of Reverend Klrby to this pastorate as his work has been effective in this community. BAND ENGAGEMENTS KEEP GROUP BUSY Hubbard, Sept. 31 The Hubbard Community band under the direc tion of Dr. A. P. de Lesplnasse. will form part-of the. caravan planning to visit tne Clackamas countv fair at Canby Friday evening. . The band was invited to take part by Dr. P. O. RUey, president of the Marlon county federation of community clubs and at their Wednesday night meeting voted to accept this invi tation. Monday of next week the band will take part in community day at the state fair representing the Hub bard community.
