Exten sive preparations are being complet ed for a seven-day commencement week program at the Salera Indian cnool. The program, which includ es sports, the operetta, for which the school is famous, industrial ex hibits, memorial services, competi tive drill, alumni and student meet ings and other activities of interest, will open on Sunday afternoon, May 39th with the annual competitive drill by the school companies, fol lowed In the evening by the bac calaurate address by Dr. Carl Gregg Doney, president of Williamette un iversity. The operetta, "Pepita," will be given three nights this year Instead of two as in the past. Therefore the Indians have presented the oper etta but two nights, one for the stu dents and the other for visitors, but two nights will be given to the pub lic, due to popular demand. Prac tice for the operetta has been go ing on for some time and more than usual efforts are being given to make It one of the best ever presented at the school. It will be riven in Spokane for two or three nights next fall when the Third Annual National Indian Congress Will convene. Chemawa was featur ed for two nights In Spokane last year and received many compli ments. On Monday Memorial services will be held, In which veterans of the Civil War, Spanish-American ind World wars will participate. In the evening the operetta will be liven In the school auditorium for me stuacms. The complete program follows: SUNDAY, MAT 29 2:30 p. m. Farewell social In gymnasicm. FINAL FIGHT ON 1 PLAN OPENS Chicago, May 21. What may be tlie final court onslaught of the Jameson committee of minority hold ers of bonds of the Chicago, Milwau kee and St. Paul railway on the re organization plan of the majority bondholders, was begun today in the United States circuit court of ap peals with former Governor Miller of New York, attacking the receiver ship and reorganization program as precipitated by the onicers and "di rectors of the railroad for the pur pose of financial reorganization." This culminated, he said, in the fore closure suit and sale of the road. Minority bondholders, after losing previous skirmishes In Wilkerson's court and the the circuit court of appeals, again is before the appel late tribunal fighting the final order of Judge Wilkerson approving the sale and denying objections of the Jameson committee. First, however, Lind bergh planned to return here and attempt to break the endurance record. Kniaht said. The Australian flight, Knicht pointed out, would carry the filer over more than 6551 miles. Forty In dian students have signed to attend the citizens' military training camp at Vancouver, Wash., this summer, according to an announcement Is sued at the school. All of those signed have taken medical exami nations and have been given a clei slate. Captain Jean K. Stacey, sen ior instructor here, is prominent in the promotion work. The Chemawa students will be supervised by sons of two superin tendents of Indian schools and It is believed that they will take an un usual interest. Lieutenant William Goodman, son of C. W. Goodman, former superintendent of the Phoe nix, Ariz., Indian school, will be one of the officers. Lieutenant Har old Royce, son of Superintendent Royce of the Carson, Nev., Indian school, and Lieutenant Van Way, a graduate of West Point and a schoolmate of Royce and Goodman, will be the other officers.
