The purpose of the fraternity is to follow more closely the pursuit of law, to train its members in the discussion of legal subjects, and to formulate n stronger bond of friendship among the law students. The membership is limited to twelve students who are chosen by the senior member at the liepfnning of every school year. Many Line Parties At Opera The foyer of the Elsinore re sembled an elaborate society re-1 ceptlon last night both before and after the presentation of "Madam Butterfly" by the Manhattan opera company A number of line parties with a generous sprinkling of out of town guests were included In the crowd. It was almost a full dress affair and more evening dresses and tuxedos were seen than Is usual at a Salem theater. Adding a delightful touch of "atmosphere" in the foyer was the playing of soft music by a "Japa nese" maiden at the grand piano placed below the great center pan el and half hidden with flowers. Only a few people know that the "Jn pa nest" ma iden was a Sa I em girl. Aliss Lucille Anderson. She is a pupil of Aliss Lena Dot son. Mrs. Willard Setnn Kaufman of Seattle (Ruth Homes) is the house guest of her par ents. Air. and Mrs. K. T. Harnes. Mr. Kaufman will arrive from Seattle on Christmas eve to join Mrs. Kaufman for Christmas day and the week end following. The next meetinir of the ladies' aid society of the W. H. C. will he helel on Thursday, December 30. at the home of Mrs. Katie Schopp. 50 K street, nnd will be a social afternoon meeting. The meeting for this week Is postponed until a week later because uf the proxim ity of the Christmas season. Air. and Mrs. YV. E. Fourteen members of the Salem branch of the state nurses' asso ciation and three special guests entertained at a special meeting of the branch at the Gray Belle on Saturday.
