Mr. McCall expects to reuiuln there but a short time and will then return to Silverton. Two boys were reported born at Silverton so far this week. One lo Mr. and Mra. A. C. Christenoa at the Silverton hospital and one to Mr. and Mrs. R. K, Barrett at their home. Mr. and Mrs. P. Jacobsen, Mrs. Murie Bunesa and Mrs, Anna K. Jensen were Snlcm business callers Tuesday of this week. Jack Larson, Mrs. W. C. Larson, Mrs. Alvin LegartJ, Orval LarBou and Mrs. Caspter Towa, motored to Portland on Tuesday of this week. St. Monica's Altar society en rolled six new members with the usual ceremonies Tuesday evening. Miss Elizabeth Uphoff hm been on the sick list for the past few days, but Is reported as Improving slowly. St. Paul's Dramatic club met Sunday evening for the purpose of making preliminary arrangements for a comic drama to be given shortly after Christmas. Mr. and Mm. Ben Dittler were Mt. Angel visitors on Tuesday. Children of St. Paul's school are spending their spare time In pre paring a Christmas play. Thii will be the first dramatic per formance to he given on the new st:igo in tlio St. Puul auditorium. II. M. McCullough motored to Portland on business Tuesday of this week. Father Joseph Sherbrlng spent the past week at Shaw. Mrs. Tom Riley, who has been 111 for somo time, is able to be around again. Mra. Fred Burch has been con fined to her home for the past few days with a severe, cold. La wren re Sharback was a guest of John Mack on Tuesday. Mrs. George Uphoit has been suffering from pleurisy for the put few days. Rev. and Mrs. George Honrlk sen spent Tuesday at Portland. The Dorcas society will hold its annual election of officers on the evening of December 16 it nas been announced. Hostesses for the evening nro Mrs. Clara Baltimore Mrs. John Moe and Miss Jerdle Kloster. The St. Monica Altar society was delightfully entertained at the home of Mrs. Joseph- Brock house, Tuesday aftornoon. The Knights of Pythias took up a collection amounting to J 15 which will be used tor Christmas presents for the three little Thom as children who lost their mother a few months ago and -are now at the Pythian home at Vancouver, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were popular at Silvertpn before they moved to Salem, where Mrs. Thorn- ns died. Mr. Thomns was with the Standard Oil company while at Silverton. The Pythian Sieten are making a collection of fruits. Jams and Jellies to be sent to the Pythian ourae at Vancouver. Dan Geiser was at Salem. Mon day. No other cases have developed. Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Freeman of HUlaboro were In town Friday eve ning. Mrs. Gertrude Page was In this olty on Saturday. E. R. Keller will have another "shoot" on next Sunday for hams, bacon and lard. E. P, Flynn and John Miller are loading their hops on cars. A. Bush, E. D. Carver, Gua Swan, G. B. Ackerson, and J. P. Feller drove to Woodburn on Monday evening to the Woodburn Masonic lodge meeting. Karl Feller and Pearl Brlden stlne were married last week. Thay will reside on the Peter Feller farm here. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bush spent Sunday In Newburg. Dr. Warner assisted by the nurse Mra. King, held a cllnlo at the school last Wednoaday and Thurs day. Among the ladles who assisted with the work during part of the two days were Mrs. L. G. Glesy, Mrs. Jim Ryan, Mrs. Ben Eppere, Mrs. G. B. Ackerson, Mrs. A. J. Rich, Mrs. J. C. Moore, and Mrs. ISrnst.
