A mystery forger left Mil waukee last night for an unknown destination after writing one of the most unusual chapters In local police history. Charged with forgery under the name of Peter Daly, 60, from "no where," he vanished under orders of Judge George A. Shaunghnessy after the latter had itven him a suspended sentence. By his own admission, Daly has cashed hundreds of worthless checks in many cities but the po lice say never once has his Intend ed victim been tho loser. From tome mysterious source every check has been paid dollar for dol lar until the total has reached a tidy fortune, Daly declared that he does not know who Is picking up his worth less paper or why. He only knows, he said, that privato detectives have trailed him constantly for years, never molesting him but koeping him under surveillance and paying tho bad checks as fast as ho passed them. LINEN MILL SHE Directors of the new Oregon LI non Mills, Inc., at a meeting yesterday afternoon at which si toe were considered, decided to wire astern experts to come to Salem at once in order to pass on pro posed sites and determine on the laying out of a mill. A water analysis will be necessary, It Is stated, before a site is definitely selected, as the mineral content of the water to be used must be de termined. Furo water without mineral content, Is demanded in the bleaching processes for the linen, It Is stated, and this Is a matter to give most serious con sideration. - Financial con dill on a are such as to make it possiblo to go ahead with the new mill at any time, it was suited, and now all that Is necessary ie the working out ol details In regard to location, con struction and machinery.
