In the same statement in which
Governor Pierce yesterday an
nounced formally the removal of
Robert Crawford as superintend
ent o the state flax industry at
the penitentiary and the appoint
merit of John Qulnlaud in his
place, the governor announced
that profits from the 1924 crop
will be about tiu.uuu under etiu
ma tea. The reason given for this
Is that the 350 tons of straw retted
during the Btimmer of 11)25, mostly
from the 1924 crop, was consider
ably damaged from over-retting.
A considerable portion of It wan
too short to be used for other than
tow purposes.

into the making of spinning tow

long fibre variety.
"The plant now has on hand'

means that the 1400 tons will be
retted, artiflcally dried and

about 280 tone of long fibre which
la now worth from ?400 to $600 a
ton."
The resignation of Crawford and
tho appointment of Quinhind was

about two weeks ago.

Honey Ginger Nuts
1 cup strained honey
1 cup sugar
1 cup melted fat
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 tablespoon ginger
1 cup chopped ruts
1 Vi cups flour

Glazing for Ments, Fish, Poultry
Boll 1 quart of consomme until
It Is reduced to 1 cup, or simmer a
small amount of Jellied stock with
burnt Bugar until It becomes like
a Byrup. Or add V teapsoon gela
tine soaked In 4 tablespoons water
to 1 cup of stock. The glaze should
ba melted over hot water and ap
plied to the meat, fish or poultry.
Scalloped Celery With Cheese
2 cups celery, cut in small pieces
and cooked
3 tablespoons of butter
2 tableapoonB of flour
1 cup of milk
Ltttto onion salt (if you like It)
Dawh pepper (white pepper Is
very good)
2 tablespoons grated cheese
Bread crumbs to cover dish be
fore placing in oven
Combine the cooked celery with
the white sauce (made by com
bining and cooking the butter,
flour and milk in regular manner)
and turn Into greased baking dish,
sprlnklo with bread crumbs and
bake 20 minutes at 3G0 degrees F.
