FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1925 THE CAPITAL JOURNAL; ;$ALEM, OREGON PAGE NINE Open Forum Contributions to This Column muit bt plainly written on one Ids of paper only, limited to 300 words In length and elened with the nam of the writer. Articles not meeting1 these spe cification will be rejected. To the Editor: Thou ahalt not kill, is interpreted and ac cepted by all law abiding people to mean "Thou ahalt -not com mit uu provoked murder". And all normal minded people know full well that If they respect and oboy that commandment then the law applying to murderem does not in, any way interfere with their enjoyment of any reasonable personal liberty; but Is a shield to them against evildoers. A person could probably make more headway In getting "fool" lawe chnnged by pointing out de tects and flugseflting remedies ln etead of slurring and stabbing at It. Under present conditions the law apprehends dospoilers and provides them with better food, clothing and shelter; and eren luxuries; than thousands of law abiding1 people ever enjoy; where upon they take human life in or der to escape such intolerable conditions; boast thereof; sign and fingerprint a written state ment of the heroic deed; but ac cording to law, they must be tried In court, and an Immense sum of money ia paid to establish the truth of the fingerprint state ment; is this one ot the "fool laws" referred to in the open for um of Nov 9 th? 'ine statement; "You'll never nako me hold up my hand and swear awny a man's life"; 1s so utterly silly that . I shall not try to quality It; but will say that there never was, and never will be, such a law, that required a person to do so; but the law re quires that a person testify to the truth; but If be testify false ly, and thereby liberate a mur derer, then he is in the same clnes with those who slobber and sob to have the murderer set free; and their classification and reward are set forth in "Holy Writ." Come over and help make this hanging law obsolete by obeying both the civil law and the Golden Rule. A. F. YODER. Editor Journal: "A Subscrib er" as he signed his "open forum" article In your issue-ot the IStb Inst; possibly should be excused tor h is ou tburst, because w here Ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise. 'A Subscriber" writes, using his words. The state game law states it is always unlawful to shoot from a blind. Perhaps "A Subscriber" is more familiar with this law than the writer, howev er I'm somewhat like the fellow from Missouri. Since "A Subscriber" styles himself a hunter we question his position as being consistent, Inasmuch as he hides behind a blind to take a shot at his super iors. Why, "A Subscriber," IE you have a grievance or any criticism to offer are you not man enough to sign your name?
