Mr. Helger eon's resignation becomes effective January 1, 1926. The change comes as a surprise to everyone and time hae not cdnpsed for a full crop of aspirant far the office to springup. There aie at leu3t four Folk county at torneys who have been mentioned aa possible suueessora to Mr. Hel ger sou. These aro Sibley of Dallas, C. It. Ellis of Independence, W. W. Hurcomhe ot Dallaa and fc). K. Pla- secltl of Dallas. Mr. Sibley filled the office ceveral years ago. He was among those considered for appointment as circuit judge to succeed Harry H. Belt last winter. He is a democrat. Mr. Hurcombe was democratic condition for district attorney at the 1924 election and made a goo:J race. He is a member of the law firm of Drown & iiurcombe and president of tUo Dallas chamber of commerce. Mr-Piasecki eerved ono term us district attorney previous to the first term of Mr, Helgeroon! It probable that he does not greatly desire the office. He Is also a democrat. Mr. Ellis, former law partner of u. ta. i icicner, ex-siaie represent ative, is a republican. It i under stood that he is prepared to make a ctrong bid for the appointment. It Is probable that be would have to Dallas it he eecuree the position. In any evenc the office will be filled at the 1!)2G election and whoever ts appointed wilt have io defend it both at the May primar ies and the general eletcion. This will make two county offices to be filled in 1926. the other being county commfssforfer with the term ot William Kiddell Jr., explrlpg. There will also be an election of circuit Judge for Yamhill and Folk Counties. Mr, Hclgerson la completing his firth year as district attorney of Polk county. He was elected in 1920 and again In 1924 and would have three more years to serve if he had not voluntarily given up the office. He la also president of the Btatc district attorney's association and secretary-treasurer ot the 12th judicial district bar association. He ia a second lieutenant in com pany L, 0. N. G., and was former tire t sergeant with company L overseas. He plans to resign "hie OMiimiHsion as an officer in both tho bar association and district attorneys' association. SILVERTON STORE HELD BANKRUPT BY CREDITORS Portland, Or., Nov. 18. Mitch e.l, Lewie & Staver company, M. Seller & company and Acme White Lead & Color works joined yester day in filing a petition in the fed eral districi court asking that Sup pers.' Incorporated, of Silverton, b'. declared bankrupt. A schedule of liabilities and a&iets filed it the same tlraby iN. L. Blessing, sec retary of the company, placed the liabilities at $22,934.24 and asset? at U9.377.47.
