Dallas and Polk county golf enthusiasts who have been carrying on consider able agitation for a golf and golf links in this vicinity are having an opportunity this week to put Lh olr name on tho dotted line. Lee E. Smith of the Alderbrook golf course, Tillamook, and D. C. Craig of Hockaway arc presenting a proposition whereby they will establish an 18-hole course at Hr link's corner, midway between Independence and Monmouth. The Tillamook county men propose to socuro 10 signer who will con tribute $00 for the first year and $1 per month thereafter before proceeding with the plans for a club. They aro placing their proposi tion before Dalits, Monmouth, In dependence and Salem. The pro poned course would be only seven miles from Salem with a paved road all the way. It is not yet known whether enough golf players can be secured to make the proposition a go. A hot lunch will be served each day to the grade and high school students. These dishes are served at a very low cost.- Tho Domestic Science girls will havo complete charge of tho planning, preparing and serv ing of these lunches. Kerr, president of the college, who for almost a year has been fighting to regain his health, returned to the campus this week well and strong and resumed Immediately a por tion of his accustomed duties In the executive office. PrcaideiiL Kerr was seriously In jured in an automobile accident on the lower Columbia river high way in June, 1924, and though he apparently recovered from its ef fects a few months later, his sub sequent complete breakdown last December has been positively as- senbed to the accident itself. Though he took a small part In commencement exercises last Juse he was still far from his normal self, and continued treatment In Seattle and later in Portland wis necessary to firing about his com plete restoration to health.
