riMY, OCTOBER 2m 926 TtiB CAPITAL JOURNAL, SALEM. OREGON 'PAGE THREE 10 OPEN GATES With every indication favorable for a stock show that will surpass all previous records, tho fifteenth annual Pacific International Live stock Exposition at Portland will throw open the gates of Its im mense pavilion, now covering more than 11 acres, next Saturday morn inff. All sections of the biff building, according to General Manager O. M, Plummer, will be filled to over flowing wllli tho finest pure-bred livestock on tho continent. In or der' to accommodate the unprece dented number of champion stock entered for tho show, it was neces eary to build a new addition, ap proximately one aero in area, "Wo will probably also have to build an addition to the 2-acro in dustrlal annex," reports Mr. Plum mer, "to take care of an overflow from the great manufacturers and land products show that will crowd this big section to tho utmost ca paclty. The capacity will bo tax ed in all sections. The great dairy and beef barns will not have space enough left for a single stall, and we are utilizing every foot of space for accommodations In tho swine, sheep and goat sections, and tho division given over to draft horses. Our poultry show, too, will bo a record-breaker. This year's show will not only break nil records for size, but will be not able for Its excellent balance and for the high standard of entries In all departments." In marked contrast to the many obstacles and unfavorable condl tlons with which Manager Plum mer and tho stock show officials bad to do valiant bnttlo last year, conditions this year have been ex ceptionally favorablo from all angles. The show will be staged In a much-improved pavilion, built under high pressure last year when the disastrous fire of July 23 swept away tho old pavilion less than threo months before the ahow. With the devostating animal epi demics that wrought havoc among flocks nnd herds last year now conquered ana all bans lifted, breeders in all parts of tho coun try have taken heart, and entries havo been pouring in for many weeks from all sections of the Pa cific slope, with an unusually heavy representation from eastern and mlddlewestern states. The finest flower of pure-bred herds and flocks from all points of the compass are now moving to wards the big stock show of the west, or are already in their allot ted stnlls at the pavilion, ready to battle for Pacific International honors and the $100,000 in cash premiums to be awarded. Chambers of commerce and olh er organizations all over tho Pa cific coast country are co-operating In advertising the show and stim ulating attendance. Tho attendance goal for this year has been set at 150,000, and an earnest appeal Is Girl Gained 7 Pounds Nine Years an Invalid That's Just what McCoy's Cod Liver Oil Compound Tablets did for the Babcock girl and is doing as much for tens of thousnnds of thin, underweight, weak and diS' couraged people nil over Amor lea.
