SIGN ERECTED HEILIG THEATER An electric sign containing 800 electric light bulbs and measuring 29 feet In height and 5H feet In width, being installed by the Helllg theater, will be completed thia week, It was announced yesterday by Archie Holt, resident manager of the theater. "The sign will be the biggest electric sign ever built in Salem," he said. It will be equipped with an electric flasher with 5 special cir culu, each of which can be flash ed on and off Intermittantly at will, subject to change from night to night or week to week, as de sired. At the start the letters H-E-I-L-I-G, running down the center of the sign, will remain on steadily. They may later be chang cd to flash on and off. The border, running around the edge of the Bign, will flash on and off, each side alternating, with one Bide be ing bright part of the time and the other dark, and vice versa. circle at the top of the sign will have Its lights flash on and off in such a way as to give tht effect of a circular motion. A huge star inside the circle will flash on and off. The sign was built by three lo cal electric firms, working Jogeth- It Is being Installed at the north east corner of the I. O. O. I POLISH ISSUE Locarno, Switzerland, Oct. 14 (AP) That the Polish problem, particularly the question of the Po Hah corridor to the flea, still troub les the Locarno security confer ence, was the impression given to day by Austen Chamberlain, Brit ish foreign secretary, who said that he and Sir Cecil Hurst, English jurlat, had placed their services at the disposal of the delegates in an endeavor to reach an agreement concerning Germany's eastern fron tiers. It Is undoratood that difficulties havo arisen over the text of the Polish-German arbitration treaty because Poland, wishing to protect her corridor to the sea, does not desire that trie treaty shall efect disputes arising out of existing existing treaties, which she be lieves can only be revised under the provisions of the league of na tions covenant. Moreover Poland wants the same guarantee from her ally,- France, for the Polish-German treaty as Great Britain Is according to France und Germany In connection with the Rhine security pact.
