Locomobile, Chandler and Cleveland dealer, ' Mac DONALD AtTTO CO. Collage and Ferry q24 4 ONLY TRAFFIC FOR ONE LINE SAYSSPROULE (Continued from pnge me) Charles Moran, president of the Nevada-California-Oregon railway, testifying late yesterday, urged the not easily of broad-gauging that line. He said that all of the etock and moat of Llic bonds of the line weer owned by himself and his three sisters and that he had made numerous attempts to got the line broad gauged but could not fin ance the plan untlt the Southern Pacific offered to carry it out at cost of about $2,300,000, exclu sive of equipment. Ho estimated that there were about 14,000,000, 000 feet of timber tributary to Lalteview nnd that if his line were standard gauge it would be a pay ing investment. CJeorge W. Boschke, chief en gineer of tho Southern Pacific com puny, gave the costs on construc tion work that hie company had carried out and said that the plans of the Oregon Trunk would cost thousands of dollars more than had been estimated if the proposed Bend-Klnmath Falls line Is to be a first class one. K. Dusen berry of San Francis co, a lumbermnn who owns 350, 000.000 feet of timber near Lake view, declared that he intended to construct a logging line to tap the Nevada-California-Oregon line and to build a mill at Lakevicw that would cut 20,000,000 feet a year. Frank Boutin, a Portland lum berman. said he owns 250.000,000 feet In the neighborhood of Lake view. He said he would construct a mill and build a logging lino to the railroad there. He said, furth er, that a mill already at Lakeviow which is planning to close down soon, would be rejuvenated if the Southern Pacific and Strahorn plans were carried out.
