Josephine Kkerson, who went to work in a restaurant and as a re sult hr husband, II, L. Kkerson, asked for a divorce, has corm; back at him with a demurrer to the complaint on tho ground that ic does not state facts sufficient to constitute a cause of suit, and also lias filed a nappllcation for suit money and $100 attorney's fees. In her application she declares ahe is working in a restaurant, but with her husband's consent. She eays, however, she receives only $15 a week, out of which she has to pay her room rent and for her clothing, as well as to help her mother, her minor brothers and: some minor slaters. She states her husband is In-! terested In tho Sanitary Milk com pany, draws $100 a month, and is amply able to pay the $100 at torney'a fee asked for. REV. POWELL TO Detroit, Mich., Oct. 7. Henry Foid has announced that an en gine for use iu light airplane for popular operation in transporta tion virtually has been completed in his experimental laboratory at Dearborn. He said the engine was an eight cylinder, 200-horsepowsr motor. For this engine the manufactur er claimed all the ecoonraiea ot the small automobile engine. He said the motor would not require adjustment and parts woud be in terchangeable, so that a worn out part could be easily replaced. The motor will be tested soon. Commenting on possibilities oi aviation, he repeated hie oft-made assertion that ho was a "green horn In aviation" and that "this belonged to a younger genera tion' Nevertheless. Mr. Ford visual ized the possibilities of common use of planes and asserted they would ho a strong factor in for eign deovlopmont and internation al relations. He eaid the airplane was an aid to the automobile and painted out that as the automobile had bivmght together people from the different parts of the Unhcd States, bo the airplane would bring together all nations of the world. Rev. Charles H. Powell, former rector of St. Paul's, Salem, and now rector of St. Luke's Episcopal church at Vancouver, Wash., has accepted the position of rector of Calvary church oC Keaalde, Or. The appointment was made by Bishop Sumner. Mr. Powell has been very active In the affairs of Vancouver dur ing his four years' stay thore. He is a member of the Ki wants club, the Knights Templar and the Mys tic Shrine and lias held many offi ces in these organisations. For three years he has been president ot the public library board at Vancouver. Rev. Mr. Pojvcll Is a gradaute of Oberlln college in the claes of 1897.
