On one occasion, Eaton recovered a fumble for Ben son on the Indians' 30-yard line but the mechanics were unable to get through the local's stone wall defense and the Portland team was held tor downs and Thompson punted out ot danger. Again near the start of the third quarter a recovered fumble gave the pigskin to Benson in mld field, but they were forced to punt when they failed to get through the Indians.
