This animal is own ed by J. D. FarrelL of Seattle. Both a daughter and son of Craig more Peer, West's Imported Hack new stallion will participate. Me Grcagor Peer," a 8-year-old gig horse, was shown last year as n 2-year-old. Lady Lofty, a high stepper, Just turned two, will en ter the arena for the first time In Salem. Mrs. West will appear In the lailles's classes this year. Probably the most unique en try" of the entire show will be made by tho ex-governor. This will be an old-fashioned Victoria phaeton, recently purchased by Mr. West from the Lewises of Port land. It will be driven around the arena on the opening night by Jnmes Dryden of Portland, who will appear In full coachman's re galia. He will drive Harmony Myths and Molina, high-stepping blaelt ponies. Later In the week the same vehicle will appear when Marie Scaton and Lady Malcolm arc shown In the pair class. Turner, president of the Spokane, Portland & Seattle and Oregon Electric, la another early arrival. He is represented by two flvo-gaited horses, Brilliant Prluce and Golden West. The Shiek, a walk-trot animal, is also owned by him H, M. Kerron Is expected lo arrive shortly with eight or tea mounts. Mrs. Stanley Smith, also of Portland, will be here with Jim Noble, a jumper, Daisy Peane and Arnmmant, the latter a walk-trot horse. Mrs. C. K. Grelle's well known five-gaited horse. Shikara, will again appear before state fair horse show crowds, and thrcC heroes will come from the Biable of Dr. Held of Portland. One of these an unknown entry, Is causing much speculation among horse show fans. This much is known: it is a jumper recently from the east. . y Keenest Interest centers upon the appearance here of the Welsh string of famous jumpers from Calgary, Canada. In addition to having this string of unbeaten jumpers, Welsh Brothers also boast of having the finest family of riders on the continent. The leader of this group, Louis Welsh, aged 16 years, will ride Barra Lad, holder of the Pacific coast jump record of 7 feet 4 Inches. Throughout their act has been woven a comedy plot that Is said to be a riot from the en tertainment standpoint. It Is based on the idea of a singing teacher trying to pound Tocal in struction into the cranium of a dumb pupil. The boys do some wonderful harmony singing In their vocal numbers mostly all of which are of the comedy variety. Another distinct novelty Is the Le Petit Cabaret, enacted by Mantell'e Manikins under the direction of L. Ayres Mnntell who has developed this art of en tertainment to a well nigh per fect degree. For a genuine novelty surprise the palm must go to Slnde Dale and Dixie DeLene, two musical comedy favorites who present "A Musical Comedy Surprise,1' with a wealth of gorgeous stage set tings and beautiful costumes. V. C. Dornfleld with hU Trlx and Chatter presents a very clever and entertaining act consisting of magic and comedy chatter which combined with an Irresistible per sonality makes him a favorite everywhere. The show Is rounded off with a beautiful singing and musical number by O'Brien Sisters and Mack In which saxophones, piano solos, singing and dancing com bine to mke a most enjoyable fourteen minutes of diversified entertainment.
