The Toledo team has one of the fastest clubs around here and have lost only one game In (ho last two years. Last eeiition they finished the year with 23 wins and no losses and have done almost as well this year. "Frisco" Edwards had started negotiations with Albany .-for the two games but dropped them lor the timo being when the Toledo team issued their challenge as he thought thut Toledo would furnish a hotter game than Albany, due to Toledo's two victories over Al bany. Dave Strietmater, left handed hurler, has been pitching excellent ball for Toledo and with stellar backing of some of the best col lege players available the Sena tors will be in for one of the toughest games of the season. Btrlctmater is e. dimunitive player but has an excellent curve baU with a fcood change of pace. He worked on the mound for the Sen ators for a gmie or so two years ego but left as he had a eore arm at that time and was unable to givo his best. Ho is back in form now, however, and if he is -right will llktly take the Senators to a trimming. Stricttnater will be opposed on the mound by Wayne Barnaul, Sa lem etar twirlcr, who has baffled many of the opposing batters. Barham works his best with a good hoi day to loosen him up. If the day Jjappens to be right, he will have the Toledo sluggers bit ing at the air. Ashby is sched uled to work the Monday game. GIRL'S EVIDENCE Carl G Waldespel wub acquitted in police court yesterday by a jury on a charge of driving an auto mobile while drunk. Ten witness es were heard over a period of several hours, and the jury of five members took more than two hours more to reach a verdict. Five of the witnesses for Wal delspel were girls who danced with him at the Crystal Gardens on the night of August 18, short ly before he was arrested. Among those who testified In his favor were Frank Waldorf, Ella Ben nett, Burdcita Bennett, Margaret Porteou-s of Oakland, Cal., Wallace Bennett, uip. Kunkel, Urseli Erion am: Wesley Ellis. One girl. Connie Ciark, refused to testify. Police Officers Olson, Smart and Night Sergeant Edwards testified that Waldespel was drunk. The members of the jury were W. E. Hanson, C. C. Locke. Fred Gahlsdorf, S. V. Cooley and H. C. Aicwnorter. Of the five girls who testified. three were In Waldespel' car when he was arrested. Lima. Ohio. To those ac quainted with the ways ot think ing ot the American aboriglneee. it Is self evident that the phrase, "The Iron Horse," le of Indiaa origin. As a matter of fact, dur ing the vast amount ot research done by the Fox scenario depart ment, It was found that the orig inator of this phrase was Sitting Bull, the great war chief of the Sioux. , Sitting Bull was one of the most indomitable leaders of the red revolt against the invasion of the west by the white man. As a youth in the '60's and '60's, Jie sought to arouse hie people to re sist the Invasion of their lands and the destruction of the game which was one of their chief means of sustenance. Together with Red Cloud and other war chiefs he led the Sioux in numer ous attempts to stop the progress of the Central Pacific railroad.
