The effect of the decree Is to place the girl's martial status In the same position as though no pretending ceremony ever had been performed. A number of matters concerning marital incompatibility were be fore Judge McMahan yesterday. Another unusual proceeding was the filing of a stipulation between Zelma Godwin and James C. God win in which they both subscribe to the statement that they are wholly estranged and that there is no possibility of a reconciliation. As a result It is stipulated that the husband will have custody of the two minor children, and on grant ing of a divorce decree he is to pay the woman $50 in cash and give her a note for J 100, payable with in a year. Clarence F. Hlgbee is granted a default decree of divorce from Virginia B. Higboe on ground of desertion. They wore married in Salem October 14, 1912. An order for default was enter' ed in the divorce case of Gladys Tucker against Curtis C. Tucker. SALEM UPON U. S. INDEX OF TOURIST ROADS (Continued from Page One.) Dan O'Donnei, gardner, has been associated with Miss Steele for years, and has stated that he will quit when she does. Which makes a total of two, one special cook and ono gardner, who will leave next fall, with the pos sibility that reports of others may prove to be more than mere gos sip, and that some of them may secure positions elsewhere. It is generally conceded that the hospi tal staff as a wholo is loyal to Miss Steele, but It Is not believed that the loyalty will result in a general exodus from tho hospital at the time she leaves. There are a number of nurses In training at the hospital, who for the most part aro expected to re main and continue their training, because a departure would inter fere with their becoming profes sionals, if for no other reason.
