Bramwell, state euperln ton dent of banks, shows that the assets at the close of business on June 30 disclose a gradual In crease from $297,000,000 on June 10, 1921, to $311,000,000 on June 10, 1925, There has been an in crease of $12,460,000 slnco June 0, 1924. Loans and discounts on June 10, 1925, wero $168,000,000 as com pared with $171,000,000 on June 80, 1924, or a reduction In loans and discounts of approximately 13,150,000. During the same period of time, Investments In United States muni clpal and other bonds and securl ties have Increased from $65,700, 000 to $77,200,000 or an Increase In this class of liquid assets during the past year of $11,500,000. In Testments therefore, In bonds, se curities and other Interest bearing Investments show a net Increase of approximately $8,500,000, or a reinvestment of this amount over and above the reduction In loans and discounts of $3,150,000. During hto same period of time, the reserves maintained are $63. 000,000 as compared with $59, 100,000 at the close of business on June 30, 1924, or an increase In ac tual available reserves of $4,600, 000, mnklng a total of $16,100,000 accumulated liquid assets over and above those which existed at the close of the same period last year. In the same period of time there has been a noticeable Increase In deposits. On June 30, 1924, de mand deonits of all classes wero the su mof $167,700,000 as com pared with $173,800,000 on June 30 1925, or a not Increase in demnnd dopoHlts of tho sum of $6,100,000. This increase has devoloped not withstanding the fact that there has been a decrease of $1,028,000 In deposits maintained with the respective banks by the slate treas urer were $8,4C9,482.01 and dn June SO, 1925,- these funds repre sented $7,441,388.80. During tho one year period from June 30, 1924, time and savings deposits Increased approximately $7,400,000. This discloses a policy generally devel oped for conservatism and provld ing for a larger ratio of high class securities and liquid astiets against deposit liabilities with a larger volume and higher ratio of con vertible securities than have exist ed at any time In the history of the banking business In this state. On June 80. 1925, there were 54 cities and towns In the state re porting deposits In excess of $500, 000 or 155 banks with aggregate deposits of $261,672,000. On June 30, 1922, there were 47 cities and towns showing deposits In excess of $500,000 with 140 bonks report ing the aggregate of $216,999,000.
