Is getting on fine. There will be
four cottage, two and a half Tor
ies high, with a capacity sufficient
to accommodate 30 Inmates. The

situation remains very good in

LAY PLANS TO UNITE
Silverton, July 10 Meetings of
the congregations we held In
both the St. Johns and Trinity
Lutheran churcnes Wednesday
night, the meeting being called
largely for the purpose of discuss
ing the question ot ui'ion nf the
two churches. Tho question was
brought up by the Taither-ia troth
erhood society vhi :"n aske l the
churches to consider the proposi
tion. A good attendaice was re
ported from St. Johns church with
not bo many present at Trinity
church.
Following the suggestion of the
brotherhood a committee of five
were elected from each congrega
tion. The men are to attempt to
formulate some plan whereby
union may be realized, If possible.
The committee from St. Johns
church Is: A. A. Ulvln, O. Sebo,
Lars Opedahl, Carl Loe and Ole ,
Dahl. Men of the Trinity com-1

School Superintendent F. E. Fa
gan, who Is taking a summer

rented a furnished house near tho

Community . club met Wednesday
afternoon with Mrs. B. F. Ramp,
Seventeen ladles braved the heat
and accomplished quite a little In
the way of quilting and business
plans. It was announced that they
cleared $9.75 from the food sale of
Saturday. Mrs. Sarah Irvln of In
dependence as a guest of Mrs. B.
F. Ramp was present. Final plans
for the picnic next Sunday were
made. The Silverton Trinity band
will give a program In the after
noon, assisted by two soloists, vo
cal. Dinner will be served about
1:30, the program to begin at 2:30.
It Is to be held at Brookside In the
Fuller grove Instead of at the
school grove as first planned.

Cameron, one of three youths
about 18 years of age who were
sentenced to three years in the
penitentiary List winter by Judgj
Ramsey for robbery, was paroled
Wednesday l.y Governor Pierce,
according to Information received

Monroe Wort ham entered the
Kails City Mercantile company
store In December. They pleaded
guilty in January ond were com
mitted to the penitentiary on Jan
uary 15.
It is expected that Weiser and
Wort ham will bo released soon.

Livingston was married to William
J. Norman, formerly of Coquille,
at the home of the parents of the
bride two miles north of Monitor
at noon Thursday, July 2. The
clergyman. Rev. John T. Meyers
of the Church of God, Woodburn,
officiated. A large group of rela
tives and friends were present. An
old-style wedding dinner was serv
ed. The bride is a charming girl
and an alumna of Woodburn high
school.

TO OPEN JULY 16
Woodburn, July 10 Delegates
from all parts of the state are ex
pected here to attend ihe 30th
annual state camp meeting of the
Church of God beginning next
Thursday, July 16. and extending
to July 26. According to present
indications a numow of vls'.torj
will be present from outside Ihe
state as well as :Tom Oregon.
The camp meeting was held here
a year ago, and at that time more
than 500 persons were present. It
is expected that this year the num
ber will bo even higher.
A few campers have already ar
rived, but the principal Influx Is
expected to begin early next week.
John T. Myers has charge of the
ground and, with a force f men
working under him, Is rapidly get
ting the place into condition.
Cafeteria service is to be provided,
the dining hall being rearranged
for that purpose. The usual cus
tom of operating a store on the
ground wUl be observed. The
store will be run on a cooperative
basis. Saored literature will be
dispensed at. the camp book store.
The camp program will Include?
one regular daily service for youny
