PAGE EIGHT THE CAPITAL JOURNAL, SALEM, OREGON PRICE HELD UP FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 1925 GOLDEN STATE Portland, Juno 12 California shippers are holding up the price on produce grown in the sunshine state. The unfavorable growing season In the south and the resulting short crop have placed California growers in a position to dictate priccH. Port Jand and other Pacific northwest dealers ore In the position where they can either "take or leave' the produce. Weather conditions here during me past two weeks have been de cidedly unfavorable to any big in crease In the movement of pro duce. Most produce dealers Hay mac Dusiness is poor and the dc mand light, yet prices have held firm due to the advancing market at shipping points. Tho strawberry Is well advanced and prices will bo on the upward trend from now on. Tho peak was reached the day of Decora tion day when tho fruit dropped to 11,60 a crate on tho early mar ket. That was probably the low price for the season, This morning growers obtained $1.75 to J2.10 ivr airawDerrics on tne early mar ket.
