The Salem branch of the Mac cabees presented Mrs. Aydelotte with a large bouquet of flowen: Mrs. King, local commander, molt ing the speech of presentation. Grangers from everywhere packed the con vention hall at the Dallas armory from top to bottom last night for the record attendance of the 1925 stato grange session. It was esti mated that approximately - 1000 were present. The attraction was the fifth and rfixth degree work and 300 candi dates were on hand to take tiie .sixth or state grange degree. This work was put on uy the degree team of the state grange, while the fifth or Pomona degree wa handled by a Polk county team. The evening closed with a banquet for all present. The only item of business trans acted at the afternoon session was tho election of a treasurer, follow ing no election on the first ballot Wednesday night. D. K. Denny of Washington co.mty won the of fice over E. A. Blake of Benton county, 117 to 108. Mr. Denny takes over a position left vacant by tho death or It. Hirachberg, who had held it 25 consecutive years. During the afternoon session the Evening Star Orange of Port land put on the third and fourth degree work for a class of candi dates. Tho juvenile grange work was exemplified as a special order f business. Fair weather during tho afternoon brought out the largest crowd yet in attendance, many driving in from the sur rounding country. Friday forenoon will be given over to pleacure with an auto trip planned to tour points of interest n the county, ending with an in spection of the Oregon Normal school. The business session will not get undorway tin afternoon, but at that time committee reports will be In order and business will crowd every moment till adjourn ment. It le thought that the ses sion will continue far Into the night Friday as little of the Im portant business has yet been reached. The visitors are warm In their praise of the troatment accorded them by Dallas, and they have raised no complaint, not even be cause of the rain.
