A poHso of County officers rein forced by citizens was searching 'the countryside near Lake Mar anacook today for a man who Is believed to have shot ml serious ly wounded Mrs, Emma M. Towns and then set fire to her cottage. Miss Aida Huyward, a niece of Mrs. Towns is missing and is be lieved to havebeen abducted. Mrs. Towns and her niece are among the most respected citizens of the town. According to the story told by Mrs. Towns she and her niece re turned last night from Wlnthrop village to the cottage on the east shore of Lake Maranacook and as they entered the door two shots were fired from within.
