J. J. Nunn of this city came
forward Saturday afternoon and
stated positively that he Intends to
carry his warfare against the char
arter of May dances held on the
Willamette campus May g to the
last ditch and last costume.
"1 wish to assume full respon
slblllty for tho originating and
circulating of this petition." he
said, "further. I wish to say that
none of my fnmily was aware of
my action In this matter."
Mr. Nunn refused to state when
and where he had witnessed his
last May day festival, but admitted
that the dances of this year' were
the first Willamette May dances
he had ever witnessed. When ask
ed whether or not anyone had yet
refused to sign his petition, he re
lied.
"There are always some people
who don't align themselves on the
side of the best things." He Inti
mated that he will announce a
list of signers of the petition at
some future date. "But not now."
ne said. " I want to see some more
people first."
Contrary to previous report that
had got Into circulation last week.

and friends of the Willamette
university respectfully protest
against the repltition of exercise
In such a msnner as those recent
ly held on the Willamette univer
sity campus during the May day
exercises. We find no words ade
quate to express to you our sense
of outrage and Indignation when
viewing the antics and improper
conduct of the participants In that

women, whose ambition to render
lives of service led them to Wil
lamette turned out to be a burles
que upon many things that should
otherwise have bctn symbolic of
high Ideals. We slncerelv believe

old Willamette, founded upon the
sacrifices and devotion of Christ
lan men and women we must earn
