Wheat for May delivery rose to $1.S In the final hours of trading1, an over-night gain of seven cents a bushel. Traders gave much attention to an estimate from the United 8tnte.fi department of agriculture that the world carry -ovir of wheat on July 1 would bs 126.000,000 buahelft compared with 283,000,000 buflhel A year before. The carry over mentioned Is said to be the smuU est on record. Before the day was ended Mny delivery of wheat brought $1.68' bushel, an extreme rute of 7 -cents compared with yesterday's latest dealings. Hem Arrivals were only moderate but commlMion houses report the butcher trade loaded up. More than 200 veal have arrived on the street during the last two days. Choice light calves are dragging at 14 to 14i cents. There is no sale for ordinary grades. Choice lljrht hog are In better shape due to the firmer tone nt tne yards. Today best hog are bringing a 18 cent top. Ordinary grades going around 15 V4 cents. In the poultry market, hrollerH are showing weakness. LlRht leg horn broilers will not bring over 22 cents. Heavy broilers mich nn "rocks" and "reds" would brlns around 20 or 27 cents but there are few coming In. Hens tire b.irely steady. Lkht hens sell at 22 to 24 cents with heavy hens at 24 cents. Mead of Salem was a recent visitor in the city, and while here, contract ed for the entire honey crop of Dan Carew. who expects to har vest In the neghborhood of twenty tons of honey this year. The con ditions prevailing In the mountains are better now than for a number of years past for the gathering of honey by the bees, and Mr. Carew will have a larger number of col onies of bees this year than ever before. A large volume of wool sold Jn the United States, the department's wool specialists declare. Is now graded according to the depart ment's standards and preliminary Investigation has demonstrated the possibility of determining the grade of wool In tops and yarns. The official standards so far established," they said, "are bas ed on diamoter of fiber. Other factors such as length of staple. and shrinkage must be studied and If possible standards for them work ed out. Dos Moines, Iowa, May 14 (By AsHoclated Press) An agricultur al commission authorized to de velop methods of bringing about Joint action of all farm organiza tions with respect to economic and legislative measures, was created today by more than 300 delegates to the farm conference represent ing the recognized agricultural or ganization of the country. In authorizing the commission tho conference provided a unified agricultural program to which the various farm bureaus, farmers un ions, granges, cooperative and ag ricultural societies represented agreed to subscribe. Tho conference recognized the necessity of organization to regu late the marketing of farm products. The principle of cooperative marketing with the farmers In con trol of their own marketing mach Ineny Initiating such terminal fa cilities as may be necessary, also was enforced. The third section of the program requests congress to create an ex port corporation with adequate capitalization to place the surplus of agricultural production on for eign markets. The financing and functioning of this corporation should be protected and safeguard ed, it was declared "by proper pro vision In the organization law." The organization of the corpora tion would be a board of farmers nominated by the various produc ing farm organizations.
