B., of Chicago, poke before a considerable crowd at the Grand theater last night. "Many progressive medical doc tors are recognizing more and more the mental origin of dis ease," said Mr. baaw. "They have aid, for example, that fear, wor ry, haired and anger will product sickness and they admit that many cases vt Illness are due to the emotions of the human mind. In doing so, however, they do not contend that all dis ease Is the result of conscious fear, nor of willful sin, but that back of every disease or discordant con dition of the material body then Is some erroneous condition of thought which must be destroyed before there can oe a permanent cure.'' The speaker quoted from the Bible in support of Christan Sci ence doctrine. "A good cause could only bo manifested or ex pressed In a good effect," he said "Hence we find In the first chap ter of Genesis these positive and deffnltu declarations: "In the be ginning God created the heaven nd the earth." "And God saw everything that he had made, and. behold, it was very good." For the reason that effect must alway: be like cause, 1 follows with equal certainty that Qod being Spirit. A new location for the queen's court baa been selected thi year. It la being built on the laws In front of Eaton and Waller balla. and the May dance will take place there. In case of rain they will probably be held In the gymnasium, it has been announc ed. The hour of beginning baa been set at 1:30 p. m. Senior glrla, with the May queen and her two maids, Mies Jennelle Vandevort and Mitu Elliabeth McClure, will march to the court, take tbeir seat there. and witness the coronation ot the queen. Professor James T. Mat thews will be master of ceremon ies. Immediately following the coronation Mlas Fay Bnaulding will sing "May Morn." The May dances will be a rep resentation ot the seasons of the year. There will be no interludes, one dance will merge into the next as one season of the year merges into another. The first to appear will be tbe asters, repre senting early autumn, followed shortly after by the autumn leaves. While the two are dancing the north wind, represented by Miss Mildred Herwig In a solo dance, will appear, whereupon the autumn leaves and asters fade out. Following the north wind comes winter, represented by a dance of the snowflakes, who hur ry away, however, when the north wind departs and the spir it of spring appears. Miss Lois Moorhead will represent the spir it of spring in a solo dance. Winter is followed by spring. with dances by the forget-me- nots, the spring beauties and the violets, who follow one another until all are present before the queens court. Following them cumes slimmer, with dances of the roses, the cornflowers and tbe butterflies. As soon as summer la completely enteiea and spring completely gone the sun goddess, represented by Miss Llllie Chris topherson, will appear and sing a solo. Winding of the May pole will be called the rainbow, streamers of numerous colors being used In the dance. Boys dressed in appro priate May day costumes, will trke part In this part of the fes tivities. All other dances will be dons entirely by girls. Immediately following the May dances a baseball game between Willamette and i'aciflc will be staged on Sweetland field. The May queen and her two maids will attend the game In state. In the evening the play, "Mr. Pirn Passes by," will be presented in the Grand theater by tbe jun ior class. The plot of the play is woven around the troubles caus ed by the absent minded Mr. 1'lm. who startles a certain married couple by absent mlndedly remetn oering that be knows her first husband, whom she had thought to be dead, to be alive. The play was given at the state peniten tiary Wednesday night as a prac tice rehearsal. Saturday morning tennis matches between the teams of Willamette and O. A. C. will be played on the Willamette courts. In the afternoon there will be a track meet on Sweetland field be tween the Willamette and Che mawa teams. In the evening a gen eral program will be held In Will son park, with the fountain play ing and tbe tjnivereity band giv ing several musical numbers. Friday morning will be spent In finishing a general clean up of the campus, with a student lunch at noon. The Wallulah, student annual published by the Junior class, will bj Issued. Friday forenoon.
