C Stephenson, ban ished grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan of Indiana, indicted fur an alleged aitttck on Miss Madge Obcriioltzer, who died Tuesday from effects of poison gelt-adinlnlstered followed the al leged attacks, was partially de stroyed by firs early today, be lieved to have been of Incendiary origin. Two cana ot kerosene and one ot gasoline were found in the wrecked house by firemen. The entire interior and root ot the house was destroyed. Fire men who had the (lames under control declared that all gas Jets in the building were turned on. An explosion which broke all the windows was heard Just before the flames were seen by neighbors. A short time before the explo sion automobiles were seen in the yard by neighbors, who attached no significance to this incident until after the explosion. Police and fire officials are making an investigation. Stephenson has been living at a downtown hotel for several weeks, and no one was believed to be liv ing In the house. Miss Madge Oberholtxer, whom Stephenson Is charged with as sault with Intent to kill, assault with attempt to rape, malicious mayhem and with conspiracy to kidnap, was buried yesterday. BIG FREIGHTERS CRASH AT MOUTHJJF COLUMBIA Astoria, Or.. April 17. The Japanese steamer Yoshida Mam No. 1 and the steamer Charles R. McCormlck collided head-on early this morning in me Columbia riv er off the Fort Adams lifesaving station. Both vessels were dam aged. One .fireman on the Japa nese vessel was injured. The Charles R. McCormlck, which proceeded on upstream to the Astoria anchorage, was report ed as taking water in a forward hold.
