Included in the list is the famous Dennis resolution No. 6 providing lor a constitutional amendment to Inuibit income and Inheritance taxes In Oregon until the year 1D4D. Senator Bruce Dennis ot Union and Wallowa counties introduced the resolu tion, which was the eubject ot a warm controversy In the legisla ture, and which Is now the basie ot a recall movement against Den nis In his home county of Union. The other measures for which ballot titles have been prepared are: Authorizing the Portland school district to levy tax in 1925 not to exced $900,000 In excess ot the 6 per cent limit over 1924 and al low this base to be used for com- Duting the lax in 1926. Authorizing Klamath county to ' Issue bonds sufi:cient to meet outstanding warrants. Providing that in event of re call elections the persons to suc ceed the recalled official snail be appointed instead ot elected in the recall election. Authorizing the governor to make appointements to fill vacan cies In certain offices, the appoln tee to continue In office until his successor shall have been elected end Qualified. Authorizing a state normal school at Seaside. Authorizing a state normal school In eastern Oregon. Authorizing a state tuberculosis hospital in eastern Oregon. Authorizing Curry county to Is sue bonds sufficient to take up outstanding warrants. Repeal of constitutional proTt son prohibiting negroes from hav ing civil rights In Oregon. Authorizing Klamath and . Clackamas counties to Issue bonds t- take up outstanding warrants. Efforts are be'ng made to invoke the referendum on two measures passed by the legislature the bus bill, which levies a heavy tax on motor vehicles used for- common carrier purposes, and the revenue bill requiring self-sustaining state activities to divert 10 per cent of their proceeds to the general state fund. Dr. Emmons is a former Salem boy, a graduate of Salem high school. He received his scientific training at the University ot Washington and Is a graduate ot the Oregon medical Bchool. He served as Interne in the Good Sa maritan hospital ot Portland and later did intensive work at the Chicago Lying-in- hospital under Dr. J. B. DeLee, the foremost au thority on obstetrics In this coun try, where he was a member of -the resident staff. In connection with his work Dr. Emmons has maue an intensive scientific study of the diet, gen eral hygiene and prevention of complications In the prospective mother. Ths new decorative street lighting system tor the Dallas business distrl:t was the occasion for a celebration Monday night when It was first turned on. The band gave a short concert, Mrs. Merls Ebbe sang and W W. Harcombe, president of th: chamber of commerce and SS. K Merrill, assistant general manager of the Mountain States Power company, gave short speeches. A large crowd was on the streets to participate in the exercises. The new lighting system Is the first to be Installed In the terri tory of the Mountain States Power company and the officials of the concern are taking a great deal of Interest in It.
