Eviden.'w of a liquor and vice syndicate which the police eald had been doing a business of millions of dollars a year was found here yesterday in a raid on Its headquarter, where eight men alleged to be minor beads of the organiiation were arrested. Records of wealthy liquor cus tomers, names of bribed prohibi tion enforcement officers. ac counts of beer deliveries and de tails of the channels whereby li quor was brought from rum fleets off New York, Miami and Now Orleans, were confiscated. The raiders said they found an ac counting system as efficient as that of a bis business concern. Several thousand dollars In checks of saloon mea and drug gists Including one for (15.000 from a North Side drug store, were seized. Among the papers was a telephoos toll bill of 2S7 for calls to New York, Miami nd New Orleans. John Patton, former mayor of Burnbam, a suburb, was one of those arrested, was charged by Sergeant Edward Birmingham of the raiders, with having offered him 15000 "to forget the book keeping system."
