Ralph White entertained in Derby hall honoring the girls of her senior ballet data. A number of the col lege folk in town during ttie spring holidays were included among the guests. The large dancing room wae attractive with green and white streamers, and striking little green bats covered the wall lights Large baskets of pussy willows and daffodils hung from the ceil ing and the drop lights were soft ly shaded in green. Burghardt, Jr., was received by cable yester day by Mr. Burghardt. Several weeks ago Mrer Burghardt left Salem for New York. From New York she sailed on the Ansonla for Cherbourg. She will spend number of months In Paris, other cities of the Continent, and In England. A three months' trip abroad is being planned by Dr. and Mrs. L. O. Clement. Dr. Clement will attend a number of clinics in Vi enna and their Itinerary will In elude famous spots in England, Holland and France. Past Matrons-, association will meet tonight at the home of Mrs. Ida Godfrey, 405 north Liberty street. French and Italian period fur nlture will be etud'ed tonight when the Interior decorating sec tlon of the Salem Arts league meet at the public library. The meeting will be called to order at 7:30. According to a wire received In Salem this morning the girls rice club of Willamette universi tv taking the annual spring tour at this time will broadcast their concert from Walla Walla toniRh beginning at eight o'clock. The girls have given concerts at Ath na, Arlington, and two in Port i land. From Walla Walla they will wing through eastern Washing ton and back Into Oregon, Mrs. O. Ed Roes and small eon Robert, have returned from a vis it of four weeks with Mrs. Roes mother at Eau Claire, Wiscon sin. Mrs. Ross was called east by ner mother's Illness and she re mained until her recovery was practically assured. Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Olmsted entertained members of the B. E club at an interesting evening of five hundred In their home on Wednesday. The living rooms were charming with baskets of hyacinths and daffodils. Easter novelties wereused as favors and card accessories. High playing scores were won by Mrs. John Spong and Ed Keene Consolation awards went to Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Davies. Members of the Salem Woman's club will have the opportunity to bear one of the foremost students of English literature on the coast when Barry Cerf, head of the lit erature department at Reed col lege in Portland, will address ;he club women in the clubhouse on nnrth Cottage street tomorrow afternoon at two thirty. The euli Ject of Mr. Cerf's address is "The Study of Literature." An additional attraction will be the musical numbers arrang ed by Mrs. Phil Newmyer, head of the music committee of the club. Miss Helen Poling of Albany, a talented singer who has studied extensively both on the coast and in the east, will give several numbers. Following the program will be a tea and social hour. The wedding of Miss Gertrude Hoffman of Silverton, to Jalmar Fosholm was quietly solemnized at noon yesterday in the Presby terian church. There wero no at tendants. After a trip to the Pu get Sound country and a visit of two weeks in Victoria, B. C, Mr. and Mrs. Fosholm will return to Silverton to make their home. Merry-Go Round Club Entertained Mr. and Mra. R. P. Bo tee wer haste on Tuesday evening to mem bers of the Merry-Go-Kound club, one of Salem's oldest and most exclusive social clubs. Spe cial gueete of the evening were Mr. and Mrs. feaac Lee Patterson and Dr. and Mra. W. H. Byrd. The rooma of the Boise home on Court street were decked with baskets and bowls of beautiful daffodils and Jonquils brought by Mr. and Mrs. Rollin K. Page from their bulb farm in Polk county. Dr. and Mrs. Phil Newmyer were Portland visitors yesterday and today. , Mrs. Ralph White entertained as her guest yesterday. Mre. Hor ace Sykcn of Sc.ittle. Dallas. Mar. 27. Some 300 Dokkies from Portland, Salem, Silverton, McMinnville, Gaston Falls City and Independence are expected in Dallas next Saturday ight for a big meeting with the local members of the Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan. Among business matters to be considered is the setting of a date for a ceremonial to be held in Dallas later in the year. The Dokkies will bring a band drill team, drum corps and I male quartet and other entertain ment features that wi.i liven up the meeting and the town. The meeting will be held at 8 o'clock in woodman hall and will be fol lowed by a feed. Local members are work mi overtime preparing to handle the meeting and entertainment. The principal speaker of the evening was Horace Addis of Fort. land, who gave an interesting tain on his trip to Crater lake. The Turner orchestra gave several pleasing selections.
