Veailvr Leonard, chairman of the common Internal antiseptic, na tional research council, explained further before the Baltimore Medical Society last nifiht the ac tion of hexylresorclnol the anti septic which he reconily discover ed. The new drug has been des cribed as fifty times more effec tive than carbolic acid in its pow er to kilt disease germs m the fenito-urlnnry tract. While the antiseptic fs an Irri tant to the stomach and ha 3 been administered with olive oil In c.i eulo form, Dr. Leonard declared It to be nnn-ii'iitatin? to the genito urinary tract. Ho described hie discovery as potently germicidal, oluabte to a high degree and cap able of being eliminated In high percentage by the kidneys. The effect of hexylresorclnol, Dr. Leonard said, was to combine at onco wi'h the secretion of the kidneys and to render those accre tions, when acid In character, fhfiiifltlves antiseptic.
