At this time a speaker representing the national organization will ad dress the Oregon members. This will be the first time t'aat fl itate convention has been held utslde of Portland. Dr. Mary B. Purvine heads the Salem club which has membership of nearly hundred. Mrs. John J. Roberts was a Portland visitor yesterday. Miss Helen Roberts, a student at St. Helen's hall, returned with her last night to upend the week end t her home. The second general meeting of the Salem branch of the National League of Women Voters will he keld on Wednesday afternooa In the city library. Among the most delightful St. Patrick's day affairs was the program of Irish folk songs, dances and stories given at the new St. Joseph's auditorium on Tuesday evening. In addition to mumbers given by members of the aneh and students at Sacred Heart academy the program In cluded numbers by Mrs. Ralph White's dancing classes, splendid Impersonations by D. R. Famous Pianist Coming With the Royal Dadmun con cert a matter of history, Salem music lovers are anticipating the appearance of Mme. Uermaiue Schnitzer, tho famous French pianist, who plays at the Grand theater on Monday, March 30. Mme. Schnitzer made her debut tm the American concert platform only a few years ago and since then her popularity has grown by leaps an bounds. Last year she appeared In concert at the Port land auditorium. Some critics call her the "greatest woman pianist oi the age. The concert a week from Mon dt.y Is being sponsored by the Civic Music clnb. Nurses to Receive Diplomas Miss Adelaide F. Post and Miss Claire U. Davis, who have com pleted three years of training as student curses In the Salem Hos pital will be formally awarded :heir diplomas at graduation ex ercises which will be held In the woman's club house Tuesday evening at o'clock. A general invitation to all those interested to attend the exercises has been extended by the hospital associa tion. The first class was graduated from the Salem hospital In 1897. Miller enter tained the recently organized sewing circle of Barbara Friet chie tent No. 2 Daughters of Veterans in her home on Tues day afternoon. At this meeting the name of Barbara Frictchle club was adopted by the group with the avowed object of assist ing the local tent both socially and financially. Meetings will ba held on the first Thursday of ev ery month at the homes of vari ous members. In addition to sewing the club has outlined a definite course of study beneficial to all the mem bers. Mrs. Neva Johnston and Mrs. Gilliam will take charge of the study course at the next meet ing. Devotions were led by Mrs. E. D. Proctor. It was learned that the day was the 35th wedding anniver sary of Mr. and Mre. Eyre. In keeping with the occasion Mrs. M. C. Halvoreen sang "I'll Re member you, Love In My Pray ers," and little Mies Charlotte Eyre played a piano solo. The rooms were beautifully decorated with daffodils. The host ess was assisted by Mrs. C.
