Mar. 13 Twenty-two careloada of broccoli have been whipped out of the county to date. One of these waa shipped from Kofteburir, three from Myrtle Ureek and 18 from Riddle, ft la antici pated that there will be about 16 more cars before the seanon ends. Thi market la steady; prices ranging from 75 cents to II. 60, depending upon quality. l.lKh- quality broccoli or cauliflower Is pcarre on the eastern market, ac cording to reports, and Kood price are offered. The bulk of the broc coli, however, h;m been dispos ed of on the I'udfic count market, only nix cars having guiie to Chicago. Dr. (J. V. Korlnek of Stuyton N tho fliHt nppMrunt f'ir tho new Jul of rounly luTd limpeclnr, created under tho hill providing for such Inspectors In the various counties in Oregon. Tho Mil permits the count v court to fix the salary of (he Inspector at an amount not to exceed $10 pei- day, tho per diem to include all traveling expenses na well salary. InsM-t-tor lire lu cost hnrd owners 25 cent a head, this money to be uwil to p;y In.xpoctori. Inspcctms in.iy al so have a many assMitunis :ih tl.-em ed necessary, at reinihui-sciiieiit no givater than allowed for the In spector hl;iscf, I nspi.t tors nnd as slsiantN are appointed by the coun ty court, to hold office ut the court's pleistire. V'nd'-r the law beef cattle are exempted from tubercular tcxls unl('H4 they ure in close contact with dniry herds, when inspectiun of thrin also h required. Slate Veterinarian Lytic esti mates there are 19,000 head of dairy rat'le and ::8u head of beel call le in Marlon rounly. In l'oik rutin! y it Is est hunt eii llw:v at o 10,000 head of flail y cattle nnd 1550 head of beef cattle. In Tllla mook "entity n n inspec tor inspected 13,000 cattle in lf.O days, hut. It Is believed no such record of inspect ions tMiiltl be miide here as cattle there In la rue herds and ni'iinly confined to a snii'ller area. It Is estimated nn Inspector could handle about 30 cattle n day und r ordinary con ditions, or that is from lid to 7ri ealtlc In two days, ns the test lis made one day nrd the reaction not ed tho next, two days being re quired on each Insj -wilim. While ni definite deeLnlon has been ma do by the county court a tentative plan Is to provide pos sibly for three Inspectors, two In the south end of the county and one In the north end of the coun ty, theso Insneotors to bo paid so much for every head inspected, but not to exceed $10 n day. The amount paid per head probnbly would not be 1 lie full Uli cents, as undoubtedly there would he sonic failures lu making payment. Inspectors would be required to collect the fees und turn them in to the treasurer. It la floured one Inspector cor Id not possibly make the full 19,000 or 20.000 Inspec tions In a year. Inspections are to be made- nunu illy and the number of dairy cattle In the county is con stantly increasing from year to year .It Is stated. E While the frost hit the logan berry vines a hard wallop In ninny districts, nevertheless cannery field men coming Jn from their trips through the fruit sect Ions, say that In some yards they have found growers cutting nut five or six rnnra nnd still training up 10 or 15 good ones. Somo sections were badly hit, however. One small cannery, not far frit in here, turned down a def inite proposition on 13,000 cases of Inganherrles because ho was afraid hi district would not pro duce. In fact he rejected a sec ond offer from the same part lei on 5000 case. Nothing better than 5 cent offer has so far been heard of lu tho loganberry field. All sides seem to be holding nioif or lees nloof to see Just what hap pens, iTanncrymcn still Insist the1 n.p will bo bigger than talked cui n many cas.'s, and growers arc pessimistic. i "TitanytiVlfrarii: 11 Model Bakery Specials For Saturday All 15c Bread 12 Cents Kye, Whole Wheat and White All 20c Cookies 2 doz. for 25c Your Choice Marble Cake 20 Cents Each Cream Puffs 3 for 25 Cents And With Genuine Whipped Cream Hot Cross Buns 30c per dozen (Don't Forget to Order Them Early) I'ortland, Mar. 13 Egg values continue steady and unchanged with receipts good but well ab sorbed. Mass . a Mr. 13 The Commercial Bulletin will say to morrow: There 1a a "owing Impression in the wool trade that the market is "dragging on bottom" and that increased business in decent vol ume Is "Just around the corner." This Impression has been strength ened to some extent by the course of the London sales, which have vhown a slightly better tone as the sales have progressed Australia also keeps firm on the new low levels. Manufacturers are looking the market over more or less careful ly and evidently are feeling a lit tle more cheerful; In fact there is no doubt that there 1m slow Im provement in the demand for goods.
