Ac tive road work is again being atarted by the United SUtea Fidel ity ft Guarantee company on the new highway between Niagara and IH'troit, several new station crews being nut to work last week and more to be added Immediate ly. It is estimated that it will take about 90 days to finish the work, and If thrs proves true. It will open the road in time for fishermen to use during the good fishing season. The Mill City high school bas ketball teams went to Albany, Sat urday night and were defeated for the county championship by the Albany high school, 34 to 21. The local team had eome hard luck, one of their star players being knockcll out In the first quarter, which seriously disrupted their team work. On Friday night the high Bchool second team went to Mehama and defeated the town team 7 to 1, and the Mill City grade school defeated the Mehama graders 12 to 3, Old man winter seems to hate to give up the host in this section, displaying his teeth again early Sunday morning by dropping quite a heavy fall of snow on the moun tains surrounding here, with a tight full in the city. Snow con tinued to tall intermittently throughout Sunday and Sunday night, and Monday morning huge flakes were falling fast. The test;, to be conducted at Hazel hurst field, N. J., and at the Sail Francisco air mall field, will be to determine the beat type of machine for carrying mall. According to Superintendent Cart Eggo of the air mall service at Omaha, the tests will mean a de parture from the use of the old De llavlland type of army plane for carrying malt and will be one of the biggest forward steps In the history of commercial aviation. Superintendent Egge expects that the tests will result in selec tion of a plana that will carry from three to four times as much mail and travel as fast or faster than the DeHaviland types now used.
