SECURE $13,1 GO Dallas, Nov. 21 The Polk Coun Iv Co-ouerative Prune (.rowers a sociatlon Is distributing $13,100 among its members this week as tho result of payment of one cent si pound upon the prunes pooled In this district by the Norm i'.ici fic Pruno Kxchange. The payment here Is based upon 1,316,000 liounus of prunes. The selling agency distributed 1 cents upon Its pooled crop but the local exchange applied the half rent upon its operating expenses. As a result the Polk county local is entirely out or dent with all op erating expenses paid and all fu ture payments can be made direct lo tho grover without further ex pense. A second payment of cent If expected before December 1 and from present aspects tho entire pool can lie closed at a compara tively early date. Am things stand now the local packing plant has packed out ap proximately three-fourths of the pool hero and Is expecting orders soon that will practically clean up tho prunes handled through.lt. This Is not due to the fact there is not a demand for the car lot but because walnuts have been moving out of here in small driblets for local consumption so fast that there Is not a carload left in the warehouse and only about 100 bags are on hand. If a carload Is made up here it will have to bo of walnuts shipped In from other points. Only a comparatively small por tion of the Salem nuts will bo cracked this year, and those that are will be ino'ved up to the head quarters at " Bundee where tho cracking will be done. The super ior quality of Salem walnuts this year soon became known to the local trade which absorbed them in a hurry, nnd the small balance on hand will be moved out shortly. Boston, T.fass., Nov. 21 The Commercial Bulletin tomorrow will say; Wool prices are surging strong ly upward, the scarcity of wool the world over, rather than the demand for clothing being the Im mediate impulse for the advance, although the clothing trade ap pears to be in a perfectly healthy condition. The opening of the New Zealand season this week was the signal for a strong advance, which has been reflected in South America nlso. England and Amer ica aro tho two leading buyers at the moment in the primary mar kets, although tho continent Is keen at the River Platte. Advances of five to 15 cents over last year's closing are predict ed for the coming London colon ial auctions. GROSS COUNTRY RAGE SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY The Intercluss cross-count ly race, held annually at VVIIInniette university, is scheduled for next Monday. The race will be between the freshmen and sophomores since neither of the two upper classes haa produced a team.
