SATURDAY, JUNE Wedding Event Of Afternoon "With the afternoon sun stream ing through tho treea, Mildred Wright at three o'clock became tho bride of Harry Holroye of orvalIta when Itevcrend w. C, Kautner read the ring service on the lawn surrounding the home o! the bride's parents. Mr. anil Mrs. H. A. Wright. Just before too ceremony, Mrs. Henry Hunt ing of Silver Creek, Washlnetou. sang "Because," and Miss Flora Edwards of Prineville, Oregon, played tho wedding march as the bridal party took Its place at the Improvised outdoor altar. The bride was charming in a frock of gray canton crepe carry ing a shower bouquet of Ophelia roses and lillies of the valley. The couple were unattended. After the ceremony an Informal reception was held on tho lawn and lunch . was served at little tables placed on the veranda. Bachelor buttons and a variety of greenery mingled with pink roses decorated the tables and tho veranda, Mr, and Mrs. Holroye left for a short wedding trip after which they will make their home In Cor TalliB. Mrs. Holroye is a talented musician and has Just recently moved to Salem with her parents from Portland. She attended 0. A. C. and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority there, Mr. Hol roye is an employe of the post of fice in Corvallis. Guests for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Carl C. Scoot, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. V Seven presidents of women's organizations in the city will be featured at the Monday noon luncheon of the chamber of com merce and will each give four minutes talks on what the men can do to make Salem a bigger and better city. Mrs. Ora F. Mc Intyre, former president of the Business and Professional wo men's club will act as time keep er and bell ringer. The women who will give the talks are Mrs. William Everett Anderson, president Salem Floral society; Dr. Mary Purvine, presi dent of the Business and Profes sional women's club; Mrs. Georga J. Wendcroth, president of the Highland Parent Teacher associ ation; Mrs. Charles K. Spanlding, president of the Salem Woman's club; Mrs. Richard Cartwright, president of tho Woman's civic league; Mrs. Paul H. Hatwer, president of the Lincoln McKinlcy narent teacher association; Mrs. John H. Carson, president of the Salem War Mothers. On Thursday evening at the church again she will have a recital program for her Intermediate students with assistance from the high school double quartet, Jean Porter, youthful harpist and Leonard Chailwick, violinist. For the junior students the program will be held In Derby ball on Monday evening, June 30, several of Mrs. Ralph White's dancing fairies assisting with the musical presentation of a fairy story. Invitations have been sent out for this masicaic. Members of the Idaho county association will hold an all day picnic at the state fair grounds on Sunday with an old fashioned basket dinner served at noon. There will be community singing and talks and a Jolly day will be spent with old friends meeting for a chat. Members are expected from Portland, Corvallis, Albany, Eugene and other nearby places. Varying the Kensington after noons, Mrs. Albert Smith served a dainty luncheon at an attractive w Hnntnt2, tnfcia when the wo men of the club met with her on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank ff, Dttrbfn plan to leave early next week for a motor trip of about three weeks to Yellowstone National park. Mrs, William Brawn and Mrs, W. H. Dancy motored to the Til lamook beaches and Gearhart this week spending Taenday and Wednesday, They visited with Mrs, W. H, Ehlridge at her cot tage at Oearhart, Mrs, Brown and Mrs. Baney will leave Monday for another ehort motor trip go ing to Crater Lake, stopping also in Ashland and other southern Oregon cities. They plan to be gone until about Thursday, Mre. K. Q. Carson of Saska toon, Canada, and her two chil dren Betty and Fred, with Mre. F. 3. Anunsen, Jean, Bath and Billy Anunsen will leave for New port about the first of July to spend a month there.
