Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fisher have as their guest this week Mrs. Fislier's niece, Miss Laverne Itum bntigh, a student at the state nor mal school whero they aro now having their spring vacation. The ladles of the G. A. R. will meet Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the armory for a social meeting. Tho comrndes are also in vited to attend the gathering. The women are asked to bring their needle nnd thread. In appreciation of the splendid Work of Dr. and Mrs. C. E. Pow ell and the members of the Hindu pageant which was presented last Sunday evening at the First Con gregational church, Mrs. John Baync and Mrs. William McGll chrlst entertained Wednesday evening at tho Bayne home. About forty guests participated In the affair. Dr. Powell talked very informally of India, the customs, religious beliefs and other points of lntereet. Mrs. Powell also very graciously responded and told of the early marriages among the girls and the conditions they have to face. Impromptu musical numbers were provided and games were enjoyed. After a most pleasant evening the hostesses served a lunch. Mrs. Jennie Martin, Clara Lu cas and Frances Thompson invit ed the members of the Never Fall club to meet at the Martin home last week for an afternoon of five hundred. High score prize went to Molly Bennett, and low scor3 to Maud Armstrong. Daffodils and St. Patrick's decorations were used nbout tho rooms and a uggestlon of the green and white color was carried out In the lunch which the hostesses served later. After an hour or so of sewing and chatting the host ess served tea from a prettily ap pointed tea table centered with a bouquet of yellow flowers and candles. Mrs. Reed Rowland pre- eided at the tea service, When the writers league met Tuesday evening at the home ot Mrs. W, F. Fargo twenty one guests were present, Including the members. An original program of literary compositions was the main feature of the evening but intermingled with ttie readings and discussion a pleasant .social conversation was carried on. The Fargo home was attractive ly decorated for the occasion with jonquils, St. Patrick- favors and in the dining room where the lunch was served rose colored car nations were used. In addition to the club members guests were Mrs. J. R. DeSpain ot Portland, Ruth Lawrence. Mrs. Gertrude Robison Ross assisted the hostess in serving a lunch at a late hour. Miss Minna Harding is to be the next hostess for the league. The membership committee ot the Y. V. C. A.S will meet' Tues day evening, March 25 at the as sociation rooms at 7:30 o'clock.
