' What's New on the Market BY FORREST GINN ' Stark's Delicious, said to be one of the best apples being offered, is tor sale at the local stores. The orchard run is selling at $2 per box, the fancy pack at $2.60 and the extra fancy pack at $3. The etxra fancy packed boxes contain about 80 apples. The demand for pumpkins for the Hallowe'en night Is now be ginning. The average cost la about 1 cents a pound. A fair sized pumpkin would sell for about 10 or 15 cents. Chestnuts are now being offered at 20' cents a pound. Several ot the stores are still holding at 25 cents a pound, the same as was charged at the beginning ot the chestnut season. Fellet Sole, parts of salt fish without bone, appeared on the lo cal fish markets this morning. They are selling at 25 cents a pound. Fellet Sole makes a tine fry. Cucumbers are practically oft the market. Merchants say there Is little demand now tor them so ihey do not order. The season on local grapes of all varieties ie about over. The Con cords and Warner, blue grapes, will be practically gone by next week. Lady finger grapes are ex pected to hang on for another two weeks. Imported Tokays are of tine quality and are selling at 15 cents a pound. Fennen Haddles, a smoked salt fish from Novia Scotia which re semble somewhat the smoked herring, can be bought now for the first time this year. They are jelling at 35 centa a pound. The difference is that a states man thinks he belongs to the state, and a politician thinks the state belongs to him.
