LAKE TeIpAon 82 Nuptials Are Solemnized Out of Doors Mies Grace Sherwood, of Sa lem, and John Arthur Fleming, ot Redmond, were married today at 12 o'clock at the home ot the bride's mother, Mrs. Edwin Sher wood, at 787 Cross street. Only Immediate relatives and intimate friends were present for the ser vice which was pronounced by Rev. E. C. Hickman, A bower ot spring flowers and green was fashioned on the beau tlful lawn at the Sherwood resi dence and it was there that rows were repeated. Pedestals, bearing bouquets of mock orange arrang ed with pink blossoms, formed an aisle to the alter. All appoint ments were simple but Tery love ly and the spot chosen for the ser vice seemed an out-of-doors tem ple; A color scheme of pink and white was used throughout the decorations. Following the service the wedding breakfast was served on the lawn. ine Driae s costume was a white satin fashioned with Span lsh overlace with pearl. Her bou quet was a shower of Cecil Brun tier roses and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Fleming was graduated from Willamette '; university in 1919 and is a member of Philoso- slan literary society. She is a charming and popular young wo man. She is a graduate of Salem high schoo For the past three years she has been a teacher in the Redmond high school. Mr. Fleming, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Fleming, of Red mond, Is a banker of that place but will spend the summer . In the mountains as a forester. The couple departed this after noon for a wedding trip and will return to Redmond about June 15. ' Assisting in serving the break fast of four courses were Mlas Gladys Taylor and Miss Ruth Taylor. Out of town guests for the wedding were Paul Sherwood, of Seattle, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Mason and daughter Virginia of Mill City. About 14 guests were present. Mrs. Gilbert Hostess at Card Party Mrs. Lee L. Gilbert was a charm mg hostess for four tables of bridge at her residence. Rooms were decorated In distinct schemes ot color. In the dining room, wimana ana restout roses were used, lavender and pink peas were arranged in the dining room and tu eupstairs was entirely in yel low. The luncheon was carried out in shades of rose. High score at cards was won hy Mrs. William McOilchrist while consolation went to Mrs. fi E. Bates. Mrs. George E. ' Afternoon Compliment To Teachers Mrs. Walter Spauldiiifc'l Brother and Sister Graduate Miss Mary Maxine Miller and Milton M. Miller, sister and bro ther of Mrs. Walter Spauldlng, of Salem, were graduated this year from O. A. C. and commencement exercises in Corvallls on . Monday were attended by Mrs. Spauldlng. Miss Miller, who is a member of XI Beta house, received her de gree In home economics. A spe cial hoor was conferred upon Milton Miller who was awarded a two year course in advance dalrv work at the University of Minne sota and is leaving for the east at once. Mr. Miller is a member a' Lambs Chi Alpha fraternity and is retiring president of the college Hairy club. Another brother of Mrs. Spald ing, day Carl Miller, a Junior In college, received the J. M. Dick son scholarship of one hundred dollars this year. The scholarship was established by the estate of the late J. M. Dickson to commem orate his service to the dairy In dustry of the stats and his faith In education as a factor in the devel opment of agriculture and is awarded annually at the end of the Junior year to the student majoring in dairy husbandry who. In the opinion of the department al staff, excels in scholarship and Initiative, and give promise of attaining leadership In some phase of dairy husbandry. Clay Pari Miller was also elected to Delta Sigma Rho, national honor society for men, election to which Sa limited to men "o have rep absented the college In oratory or rlobata. Mr. Miller is also a mrai ter of Lambda Chi Alpha frater nity and is vice president of the Dairy club for the coming year. I Mrs. John J. Roberta Is hostess this afternoon from 4 to 6 for tea honoring a group of teachers In Salem schools, who this year and last year have been Instructors for her daughters, Helen Roberts and Mildred Roberts. Mrs. Roberts will be assisted by Miss Margaret Cosper, who will receive, by Miss Alma Poble and Miss Ocis Brown who will preside at the tea table and Miss Humphreys and Miss Ruth Richards, who will serve. A few extra guests are being bidden by Mrs. Roberts. Mildred and Helen will assist with recelv- ng at the door. Affairs at Mill City of Interest Mill City, June 10 The Lad ies Literary Society held their reg ular meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. A. A. Hothouse discussing the works ot the Amer ican authors. The question of building a community club house was discussed at some length; and a committee appointed to look in to the matter further and- advise their findings at the next meeting. The city needs a building of this character very much, there being constant demand for a place to give small entertainments and parties, and the ladies should have no trouble in making the building pay for Itself In rental for such purposes. Election of officers was held. Mrs. Kahler being re-elected pres ident, Mrs. G. A. Smith, first vice president, Mrs. B. A. Cober, sec ond vice president, Mrs.-A. A. Holt house, secretary and Mrs. Chas. Gentry vice secretary, Mrs. O. D. McLane, treasurer and Mrs. Harry Mason club leader. It was con cluded that the works of Amerl can authors would continue to be their subject of study, and that more attention to music would be given next session. This was th last regular meeting for the dub until the first Tuesday in Septem ber. After the usual club session a delightful luncheon was served by the hostess. Salem Musicians To Be in Radio Concert A number of Salem musicians will participate In a radio concert to be given next Wednesday night from 8 to 10 from the Oregonian tower in Portland. Miss Minnetta Magers will have charge of the concert and those from Salem who will take part are Leon Jenne- son, baritone. Miss Hilda Amsler soprano, Mr. Muston, tenor, Mrs, Minnie Schaller Dlckman, color atura soprano. Miss Ruth Bed ford, piona soloist and accompan ist.
