Attor ney General Daugherty in a letter to Senator Watson, republican of Indiana, read Friday in the senate at the latter's request, denies that he told the Indiana senator that he ha no connection with the procuring of a. pardon of Charles W. Morse, as stated by Senator Watson in the senate on May when Senator Caraway democrat of Arkansas, opened his attack o the attorney general. Mr. Daugherty said Senator Watson evidently had misunder stood what had been said. He wrote that he remembered" the general discussion of the Morse case with the senator, and added I certainly did not say to you that I had no connection with the Morse case." The attorney general stated that he had no ''disposition to deny" his connection with the case, and added that he received about $4000 from Thomas B. Fel der, in connection with It, but that this sum was sufficient to pay only about half of the ex penses. Bank Reserves Gain. New York, May 27. Five motor bandits robbed Arthur J. erbst, retired capitalist ol Hilsborough and Mrs. Herbst of cash, Jewelry and furs valued at 125,000 early this morning they were returning from San Francisco to their home.
