Seventeen degrees above zero
was the minimum temperature
recorded In Salem during last
night, and the maximum temper
ature during the entire 24-hour
period ending at 7 o'clock this
morning was only 35 degrees
three degrees above freezing. The
minimum temperature came with
in two degrees of equalling the
lowest point reached during the
last two years. During the cold
spell of a few days ago the mer
cury fell to the 15 degree mark,
yesterday there was no rainfall.
The Willamette river was at 3.8 f
feet.
