Procedure on Investigation of causes of fires is outlined and the bill provides that if the fire mar shall is of the opinion there, is suf ficient evidence to charge a per son with arson, burning with intent to defraud or prejudice the insurer or a similar crime he shall furnish the district attorney such evidence with names of witnesses and a copy of the material testimony and re quest the district attorney to cause arrests and take such other action as may be advisable. The district attorney is then to summon such wi'nesses and take their testimony and lay the matter before the grand jury if he deems sufficient evi dence is available. Polk Sheriff Is Witness at Trial Dall is, Or., Jan. 21. Sheriff j John v.'. frr left Thursday tor Fort Warden, having been sub poenal as a witness in the court martial trial of Archie Wilkinson, deesrter from the United Stales army. Wilkinson had been A. W. n t i,, nulla! for about three months prior to his official arrest. At the time of his arrest he Wan in Jail, serving a sentence of drunken ness and disorderly conduct. The trial has been set for Friday morn ing at 9:30 o'clock. Marriage licenses are required in all states and territories except Alaska.
