BAKER CITY — Chicago-
based band Marbin fi rst released an
album in 2009 and now, multiple albums
and tours later, they are coming to East-
ern Oregon.
“It’s going to be our fi rst time in Baker
City — we’re excited about that,” said
Dani Rabin, who plays guitar.
The show happens Tuesday, July 12,
at Churchill School, 3451 Broadway St.
(enter through the 16th Street parking
lot).
Tickets are $10 in advance at
churchillbaker.com, or $15 at the door.
Proof of COVID vaccination or nega-
tive test is required. Admission is free
for fully vaccinated youth ages 15 and
younger who attend with a ticket-hold-
ing adult.
Their last tour was in Florida, and they
played with the band Yes on a rock cruise.
“That was a lot of fun,” Rabin said.
This tour brings Marbin to the Pacifi c
Northwest — a route they cover about once
every two years.
“We’re playing a lot of small towns,” he
said. “This is your only chance for awhile.”
Marbin plays all original music.
“We have a good time — we write the
music that comes from our imagination,”
Rabin said.
And music, he said, is special.
“There’s a certain power to it — the power
of the arts, it changes you,” he said.

“A lot of improvisation — a combination of
jazz and rock,” Rabin said. “It’s a rockin’ show.”
Band members are Rabin, Danny Markov-
itch (saxophone), Everette Benton Jr. (drums)
and Jon Nadel (bass).
Marbin used to tour 200 to 250 days
every year.
“What’s typical these days?” Rabin said,
referencing the return of live shows after the
pandemic.
And the price of gas also aff ects bands
like Marbin that drive to all the shows.
