14 SOUND CHECK JULY 613, 2022 WHAT’S PLAYING AROUND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST Join Marbin for a night of jazz fusion By Lisa Britton Go! Magazine BAKER CITY — Chicago- based band Marbin fi rst released an album in 2009 and now, multiple albums and tours later, they are coming to East- ern Oregon. “It’s going to be our fi rst time in Baker City — we’re excited about that,” said Dani Rabin, who plays guitar. The show happens Tuesday, July 12, at Churchill School, 3451 Broadway St. (enter through the 16th Street parking lot). Tickets are $10 in advance at churchillbaker.com, or $15 at the door. Proof of COVID vaccination or nega- tive test is required. Admission is free for fully vaccinated youth ages 15 and younger who attend with a ticket-hold- ing adult. Their last tour was in Florida, and they played with the band Yes on a rock cruise. “That was a lot of fun,” Rabin said. This tour brings Marbin to the Pacifi c Northwest — a route they cover about once every two years. “We’re playing a lot of small towns,” he said. “This is your only chance for awhile.” Marbin plays all original music. “We have a good time — we write the music that comes from our imagination,” Rabin said. And music, he said, is special. “There’s a certain power to it — the power of the arts, it changes you,” he said.
