HISTORY OF THE
CHICKERING PIANO
The piano was acquired in the
Gourmet Provisions,
Majestic Pizza,
Wine & Beer Bottle Wonderland,
Dedicated Tap House,
Craft Cocktails,
Espresso Bar, Local & Far-Out Deli
403 S. Main Street Pendleton • 541.276.1350
late 1970s or early 1980s for the
Hermiston Community Concert
Association, thanks to a drive
that raised about $8,000.
The instrument was located
in the old Armand Larive Junior
High School Auditorium for
eight to 10 years and used for
concerts and recitals by artists
and local students. The piano
was then moved to the Hermis-
ton Community Center, then to
Hermiston High School Auditori-
um when ownership transferred
to the Hermiston School District
with the agreement that it would
be maintained for performances
and be available for recitals and
community concerts.
In August 2021, the piano was
donated to the Inland Northwest
Musicians and is back at the
Hermiston Community Center.
