May 22, 1937 - June 2, 2021
Bernadine Mae Price McGinnis, 84 of Scotts-
dale, AZ passed away peacefully with her family at
her side in the early morning of June 2, 2021. Grave-
side services will be at Owyhee Cemetery, in Nyssa
Oregon on Monday June 7, 2021 at 11:00 am.
Bernadine was born May 22, 1937 in Adrian,
Oregon to Ira and Clara Price. The Price family came
to the Adrian Community in March of 1937 from
Callaway, Nebraska. Bernadine was one of eight
children who grew up on the family farm in Sunset
Valley. It was here that she learned about hard work
and developed strong values that served her well throughout her life.
Bernadine attended Owyhee School from first to sixth grade. In seventh
grade Bernadine transferred to Adrian School where she met James “Jim”
McGinnis. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1955. Bernadine went
to business school in Nampa, Idaho while her fiancé attended the College
of Idaho.
After a year’s separation the two reunited in Caldwell Idaho. She worked
as a receptionist at a finance company while Jim finished his degree. On June
3, 1956 the two were married at Adrian Community Church in Adrian, Oregon.
Over the next thirteen years they had four children.
Bernadine and Jim spent their adult life in Joseph, Oregon, Toppenish,
Washington and eventually Sitka, Alaska. While in Sitka, Bernadine was well
known for her kindness and love for others. Bernadine was also a sought
after child care provider on the island from 1981 to 2005. She touched the
lives of many people and helped shape the lives of over 250 children. As a
testament to her character, Bernadine stayed in touch with several kids she
previously cared for until her final days. She and her husband also ran a pop-
ular bed and breakfast from 1987 until 1998 where numerous people stayed
while adventuring in Alaska.
In the fall of 2005 the two retired to Medora, North Dakota where they
finally fulfilled a lifelong dream of running a cattle ranch. After seven years
in Medora the two traveled south to Scottsdale, Arizona where they spent
their time visiting with their kids and grandchildren and enjoying the warm
sunny days.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her
two brothers, Ira Price Jr and Kenneth Price and her two sisters Marian Robb
and Joanne Share.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty five years, Jim McGinnis,
her four children; James McGinnis III (Pam), Michelle Standerwick (Dave), Jill
O’Neil (Tim) and Patrick McGinnis (Marlene) and her five grandchildren, Jared
Standerwick, Bailey Schulz, Kristofer Ayers, Tatum Ayers and Lindsey McGinnis.
She is also survived by her two sisters; Fern Groves and Shirley Robb, and one
brother; Joel Price (Vicki).
Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Tina, Susanne, Trisha
and the entire staff of Sunset Estates for their loving care of Bernadine over the
past year. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sunset Estates Alzheimer
and Dementia Care at 281 Sunset Drive, Ontario Oregon 97914.
Arrangements and services by Lienkamper Chapel, Nyssa. Condolences to
the family can be sent to Jim McGinnis at 29416 U of I Ln Parma, Idaho 83660.

Alinda Luella “Lue” Miller
April 16, 1924 - May 10, 2021
Alinda Luella “Lue” Miller, a long time Enter-
prise resident, died at home on May 10, 2021, at the
age of 97.
Lue was born April 16, 1924, in Yakima, WA
to Julie Loretta (Egan) Shafer and Robert Edwin
Shafer. While most of her childhood was spent
in the College Place, WA area, when she was six,
her parents moved the family to Jamaica where
her father served as University President, returning
to the States when she was twelve. She attended
Walla Walla Valley Academy, graduating in 1941
and then continued her education at Walla Walla College, graduating with a
Degree as a Medical Technician.
She married Doug Miller on September 10, 1944, while he was in Dental
school, from which he graduated in 1946, and the two moved to Enterprise
to start his practice. When Doug was called to serve during the Korean War
in 1951, the family moved to Fort Lewis, WA, returning to Enterprise in 1953,
where they raised their children.
Lue was an accomplished pianist and organist, as well as violinist and
taught lessons in the family home for many years. When the children were
young, the family spent lots of time hiking and horse packing into the high
lakes. As the children began to leave home for boarding school, Lue took a
job working as a Medical Tech at Wallowa Memorial Hospital, eventually be-
coming Director of the lab. Once she and Doug retired, they enjoyed frequent
camping trips in their motorhome at various spots around the county.
Lue loved to work outdoors in the yard and her many gardens, for years
planting dozens of petunias to fill the terraces and gardens at their home with
color.
She is survived by her sister, Arlene Gifford (Jack) of Utah, daughter
Suzanne of Milton-Freewater; son Bob of Vancouver, WA; daughter and son-
in-law Gini and Don Sallee of Wallowa Lake; grandchildren Rachel and Jason
of Vancouver, Melissa of Portland and Kyle of Washington DC, and great-
grandchild, Savanna, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jim Miller, her broth-
er-in-law Jack Gifford and niece Julie Gifford, her sister, Zella Bryant and
brother-in-law Boyd, her brother Bob Shafer, his son John, her in-laws,
Guy and Halo Miller, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Genevra and Tom
Thompson, and her brother-in-law Gordon Miller and his daughter Kimi.
Lue was a member of the Enterprise Seventh-day Adventist church,
where she regularly played the organ or piano for services. In Lieu of flowers,
the family requests that donations be made to the Enterprise Seventh-day
Adventist Church School.
Arrangements were made by the Bollman Funeral Home and at her
request there will be no funeral service.
