Interact Club provides Christmas shopping for Wallowa youngsters Sixty Wallowa Elemen- tary School pupils pur- chased hundreds of holiday gifts for family members at youngster prices on Sunday, Dec. 16, thanks to Wallowa High School’s Interact Club. The Rotary-sponsored club for students produced its Children’s Christmas Bazaar at the school. Inter- act has staged the bazaar since 2009. First started by the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization, the bazaar sells the gifts for pennies on the dollar. The event was pro- duced by Riley Ferre, Ash- lyn Young, Rylee Goller, Shanna Rae Tillery, Kris- tin Craig, Ella Moeller and Grace Pendarvis, led by Ashley Wilson, the club’s president. The vol- unteers set up the bazaar in the school’s Beth John- son Room on Saturday, helped the pupil-customers pick out gifts and wrapped them. The gift items were solic- ited by Interactors from businesses in Wallowa and Union counties, including Walmart, Blue Mountain Outfi tters, Bella and Ace Hardware, and local resi- dents contributed handmade items. Interact Clubs guide young people into lives ded- icated to community and global service through ser- vice projects selected by the club members. While until now the Wal- lowa club was the only one in eastern Oregon, Joseph High School is starting one in January. For more: wallo- warotary@clubmember.org or 541-426-2577.
