Soroptimists offering community grants Soroptimist Interna- tional of Wallowa County has formalized an applica- tion process for substantial community grants for proj- ects that would have “sig- nificant impacts” in Wal- lowa County. The grant should meet the Soropti- mist mission: improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and eco- nomic empowerment. Contributions will be made only to projects in Wallowa County, awards will be made in support of health, education, environ- ment and the advancement of the status of women and children for the betterment of the community. A project budget is requested, and preference will be given to projects of program delivery. Projects including administrative and/or operating expenses will be considered, while awards to individuals will be excluded. Awards will be made based upon the availability of funds and needs assess- ment. Requests can range from $1,000 to $5,000. Awards may be made to more than one recipient.
